Completing
Scorecards in CTGA EVents
(CTGA Variation of USGA Rule 6-6)
Competitor is a player in a CTGA competition.
Marker is the one who has the responsibility to record a competitor’s
hole-by-hole scores. In CTGA events, a marker is a fellow-competitor.
Individual (Medal Play) Competition
- If individual scorecards are provided to each player, the players
must exchange scorecards with fellow competitors for scoring.
- If a single scorecard is provided for all players in the 4-some,
a marker is agreed on by the 4-some to record all scores on the scorecard.
- It is strongly recommended that all players keep a separate scorecard
and record their hole-by-hole scores as a check-and-balance to the official
scorecard.
A. Recording Scores
After each hole the marker should verify the score with the competitor
for accuracy and record it on the scorecard. On completion of the round
the marker shall sign the scorecard and return it to the competitor.
All Gross Birdies and Eagles should be circled on the scorecards.
B. Signing and Returning Scorecard
After completion of the round, the competitor should check his/her score
for each hole and settle any doubtful scores with the marker and the Director
in charge of the tournament. He/she shall ensure that the marker has signed
the scorecard, countersign the scorecard him/herself and return it to
the Director in charge as soon as possible.
Penalty for Breach of Rule 6-6B: Disqualification
C. Alteration of Scorecard
No alteration may be made on a scorecard after the competitor has signed
and turned it in to the Director in charge.
D. Wrong Score on Hole
The Competitor is responsible for the correctness of the score recorded
for each hole:
- A score for any hole lower than actually taken, the Player/Team is
disqualified.
- A score for any hole higher than actually taken, that score, as returned,
shall stand.
2-Player Team Competition
An Exchange of Team scorecards with competitor team is required and the
same scoring rules as above will apply.
4-Player Team Competition
An appointed Team marker is required to record, for each hole, only the
gross scores of each of his/her teammates. The gross scores of each player
must be individually identifiable; otherwise the Team shall be disqualified.
The same scoring rules as above will apply.
General Info
The Tournament Director or designee is responsible for the addition of
final Individual and Team Gross and Net scores recorded on the scorecard
for all competitors. However, it is requested that competitors complete
the addition of the final Gross and Net scores on their scorecards.
No penalty will be applied for failure to complete the final Gross and/or
Net scores on scorecards.
Note: Only tournament scores are to be entered onto the “Official”
tournament scorecard. If a group is playing a side competition amongst
themselves, they MUST use different scorecard.
