Rules of Play
All CTGA tournaments will be played in accordance with U.S.G.A. Rules
of Play as outlined below. Note: CTGA Specific Rules (*) and/or Local
Course Rules (as noted on course scorecard) will apply.
Tees
Tournament Director will assign Tees for each flight for men. Ladies will
always play RED Tees or course designated tees.
Pace of Play
A tournament round should not exceed 4 ½ hours. All Members are
responsible for the pace of play within their group, and are expected
to give a friendly reminder to pick up the pace to anyone deemed to be
lagging. Groups are expected to complete the 18th hole within 15 minutes
of the group ahead. A 2-stroke penalty can be assessed if it is determined
that the group is unduly slow.
Fourteen Club Limit
The fourteen (14) club rules are in effect.
Play the ball as it lies
Play the ball down, through the green, unless advised otherwise.
Maximum hole score*
In all tournaments except the CTGA Classic, a hole is completed within
the player has made 10 strokes on that hole. After the allowable 10 strokes,
the player may “pick up” his ball and move on to the next
hole.
Embedded Rock*
Relief away from an embedded rock may be taken in accordance with Rule
24-2. Immovable Obstruction. See specific procedure.
Out of Bounds
is defined by white stakes, fences and/or public roads beyond the bounds
of the golf course. A ball is lost if (1) it is not found and identified
within five minutes after the search for the ball begins, (2) player puts
another ball in play from the original spot without identifying that 2nd
ball as a provisional ball, or (3) player plays a second stroke with t
he provisional ball.
When a ball is hit Out of Bounds and/or is deemed Lost, play a second
ball, under penalty of stroke and distance, from the spot where the original
ball was played. If it is suspected the ball may be Out of Bounds or Lost
but the player is in doubt, declare and play a provisional ball from the
original spot. If the original ball is in play or found, that ball must
remain in play and the provisional ball is picked up. If a provisional
ball has not been played and the original ball is found out of bounds,
drop and play a ball within two club lengths from where the original ball
was determined to have crossed the out of bounds with penalty of two (2)
strokes. This provision is to minimize delays (*) of going back to the
original spot to hit another ball.
Scorecards
One scorecard per player or multiple players on a scorecard will be determined
by the CTGA Tournament Director. If one scorecard per player is used,
your scorecard should be carried, marked and signed by another player
in your group. Review your scorecard for accuracy before signing and turning
it in. Incorrect scorecards may be subject to disqualification for prizes.
Turn in your scorecard immediately after completing your round. Refer
to Completing Scorecards for more information.
Proper golf attire*
As representatives of CTGA, Members and their Guests must wear proper
golf attire at all CTGA tournaments, consisting of collared or mock turtle
shirt and hemmed shorts, pants or skirts. No unhemmed shorts, torn jeans,
T-shirts, tank tops, etc., are allowed. Some upscale courses prohibit
jeans or levis.
PLEASE Circle all Birdies and Eagles on your scorecard,
especially if you are competing in the Skins competition.
